Oil, Glass, Route 66, and a Lot of Original Windows

Sapulpa grew up on the Glenn Pool oil boom of 1905, had four glass plants by the 1920s, became the Creek County seat in 1913, and is home to Frankoma Pottery and a long stretch of Route 66. That history shows in its houses: the median home dates to 1977, more than half were built before 1980, and 1,125 homes go back to 1939 or earlier.

Older homes deserve an honest answer about repair versus replacement, and that is how we approach Sapulpa. Morgan Windows replaces windows, doors, and siding and builds composite and PVC decks across town, from the downtown historic district to the newer homes on the edges. Our Catoosa shop is about 36 minutes away.

What We See in Sapulpa Homes

  1. Pre-1940 homes and honest repair advice

About 11% of Sapulpa homes were built in 1939 or earlier. Some of those original wood windows are worth repairing, and some are past it. We look at the sash, the frame, and the sill, and tell you plainly which ones should be saved and which should be replaced, including whether wood or vinyl fits the house.

  2. The downtown historic district

The Sapulpa Downtown Historic District, roughly Hobson to Elm and Lee to Main, is on the National Register. The city's downtown design code subjects exterior renovations to review, with conforming work approved by staff and major changes going to the Historic Preservation Committee. Its draft residential standards prefer repair and wood windows, so confirm with the city before ordering.

  3. Some of the highest storm risk in the metro

FEMA rates Creek County Relatively High for hail, tornadoes, and strong wind. An EF1 tornado ran across town between East Taft and East Dewey in May 2019, egg-size hail damaged homes on May 21, 2024, and hail fell again on October 18, 2025. See our hail damage guide before you file.

  4. OG&E, not PSO

Sapulpa is served by OG&E, which advertises Oklahoma rebates of up to $350 for ENERGY STAR windows and up to $200 for doors. OG&E also says some Oklahoma rebates are closed until 2027, so check the current list before you count on it. The federal window tax credit ended December 31, 2025.

Permits & Local Rules in Sapulpa

What Sapulpa Requires

Sapulpa adopted the 2024 International Residential Code effective September 21, 2026. Here is what the city publishes, and who to call.

Permits
The city says that in most cases permits and inspections are required. Sapulpa permits are handled online through the city's SmartGov portal, and the permit office is at 918-248-5910. Call to confirm whether your window, door, or siding job needs one.
Historic district
Exterior renovations in the downtown historic district go through review. Conforming work can be approved by staff, and major changes go to the Historic Preservation Committee, which meets at 4 PM on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

Penalties
Work done without a permit carries a minimum fine of double the permit fees. Contractors register with the city for $125.
Utilities
OG&E serves Sapulpa and lists window and door rebates for Oklahoma customers, some of which are paused until 2027. Confirm on OG&E's rebate page before you buy.

Sapulpa Window, Door & Siding Questions

Common Questions From Sapulpa Homeowners

Do I need a permit to replace windows in Sapulpa?
Sapulpa says that in most cases permits and inspections are required, and work without a permit carries a minimum fine of double the fees. Whether a straight window swap needs one depends on the scope, so call the permit office at 918-248-5910, or we can check for you before we start.
My house is in downtown Sapulpa. Are there historic rules?
If it is inside the downtown historic district, exterior renovations go through review. Conforming work can be approved by staff, and major changes go to the Historic Preservation Committee. The draft residential standards prefer repairing original windows and using wood for replacements, so confirm with the city before ordering.
Should I repair or replace the original windows in my old Sapulpa home?
It depends on the sash, frame, and sill. Original wood windows with sound frames can often be repaired, and that may be what the city prefers in the historic district. Windows with rot, broken sashes, or failed glass usually make more sense to replace. We will tell you plainly which is which.
Does OG&E offer a rebate for new windows in Sapulpa?
OG&E serves Sapulpa and advertises Oklahoma rebates of up to $350 for ENERGY STAR windows and up to $200 for doors, but it also says some Oklahoma rebates are closed until 2027. Check OG&E's rebate page before you buy. The federal window tax credit ended December 31, 2025.
Can you repair hail damage in Sapulpa?
Yes. Creek County carries FEMA's Relatively High rating for hail, and Sapulpa saw egg-size hail on May 21, 2024 and more on October 18, 2025. Dented trim, cracked vinyl, and torn screens are the usual signs. We check each wall and window, write up the damage for your adjuster, and replace only what was actually damaged.
How far are you from Sapulpa?
Sapulpa is one of our longer drives, about 28 miles and roughly 36 minutes from the Catoosa shop, and that does not change the price. Estimates are still free and done at your home, and the written quote covers every window, door, or wall we talk through, so there are no surprises later.
