When we pulled a row of original aluminum-frame windows off a 1978 ranch in Sand Springs last August, you could hold your hand a foot from the old west-facing glass and feel the heat radiating off it. That is exactly what a good Low-E coating stops.

Double Pane vs. Triple Pane: The Honest Oklahoma Answer
This is where we tend to talk a customer out of spending more. Triple-pane windows add a third layer of glass and a second insulating gas chamber. In Minnesota, that makes sense. In Tulsa, the math usually does not work out. The one time triple-pane can be worth a look is a room that is both a noise problem and a comfort problem, like a bedroom facing a busy road in midtown. The third pane does cut sound. But buy it for the quiet, not for an energy payback we cannot honestly promise you in this climate.
